Has anyone else had issues with basic ceilings when demo'ing lights (or ceiling-hosted elements in general)?  Apparently, every time we demo a light on a basic ceiling, it creates a new ceiling entirely.  We were experiencing graphic issues, as well as time delays with revit because it had generated 189 ceilings (a ceiling per demo'd light)!  Through a painful process of undoing, and changing the ceiling to a compound ceiling we were able to remedy the issue.  Moral of the story - DON'T USE BASIC CEILINGS!

Wow ... you are right - that is really strange!  I suggest you report this as a bug.

BTW - The purpose of the Basic Ceiling is to have a ceiling for exposed structure areas that will host ceiling objects.  It really has no thickness and will not hide what is above it.  If you want a ceiling, use a compound ceiling.

Actually, the basic ceiling does hide everything that's above it. I don't see any setting that changes this. If you know of another object type that accompishes this, please let me know.
