Well, I've never had text vanish.  There has got be an explanation--it is easy to delete things without knowing it, however.

What sort of text was it that vanished?  Dimensions, for example, can be tied to an object, and when the objects change, the text does, and when they are deleted, so goes the dimension.  Room names and areas vanish when an area is no longer enclosed, though they're just dormant, waiting for proper walls or room boundary lines.

Annotations are also view-specific.  So, although you might have several versions of a floorplan, the text only shows in the view which it was created.  Annotations could also be turned off in visibility and graphics.  It could be a workset issue, if you have worksets enabled, with the two of you working on this project--perhaps they got moved to one which is not turned on.

My guess though, is that your text got deleted.  It's hard to tell when this happens.  Usually when Revit bombards me with errors, I ignore a few... "detach target?"  Sure  "attach top/bottom?"  Whatever! "Constraints not satisfied!"  Leave me the #$%* alone!!!   ...and usually it's okay, but once in awhile... real mistakes slip through.  like agreeing to delete all the objects a change rendered impossible to generate.  IDK.
