Hey Guys, when I select a placed beam from the already loaded family (310UB) for eg its fine. I can drag, mitre cut etc.

I need a SHS wind header over the top of some glazing so I had to load in the SHS from the METRIC library (I'm from Australia) Everything was fine until I tried to drag the SHS over the column. The only thing I get when I select it is the node point and I can't join them either.

The one thing I noticed that was different in the properties with all the beams in the library is there is no CONSTRUCTION catergory. And whats really weird is under the STRUCTURAL catergory there are REBAR cover parameters for the steel beams???

Has anyone got some ideas to help me or a link into how to create a basic beam family that actually has the right parameters. I can't seem to find anything on this.

Thanx in advance.

Just an update on this issue:

The other big problem with this is the graphical line type for the object style does not display as it should. Eg. If I chose the beam to be 'horizontal bracing' it still displays as a solid line even though my object style is set to center. Once again the already loaded beams in REVIT work fine for this. In summmary, all of these familes in the METRIC library do not function at all other than their presence in the model.
