May be a simple question, but,

What is the best way to show two different floor finishes within the same room?

It doesn't seem like a new floor boundary may not be the best way, I also tried split face, which allowed me to apply separate finishes to different zones, but if I cut a section through each zone, it still shows as the floor element properties.  See example attached.

may have found the answer...thin floors?  create a floor which includes sheathing and structure only, then apply the finishes of my choice to the correct area?

Any further explanation would b great.

use shortcut

1) ALT - M - SF   ->this will turn on the divide option to cut

2) click which surface you want to edit

3) draw what you want to separate

4) ALT - M - PN    -> This will enable the "Paint" option

5) choose the material

6) paint the divided surface into whatever you want

Hope this is what you mean.

Thats what I did in the illustration from post #1, but it doesn't carry thru with the section view.  The finish floor is still based on the element properties.  I need the quickest way to change the finish floor, without having to create separate "floor" elements.

Thanks.
