Can you explain a little bit what are you talking about? "what roof cricket behind the finial"?

I wasn't able to save the file smaller than 2mb!? Here are Images of model.

The cricket behind the finial needs to slope down to both points that are circled.

The model you posted with the finial in a niche of the wall, will work. I think what your concern is the way it will look on the side view. I would add a cricket with a ridge centered on the finial wall, and disappearing at the ends. This can be done by modifying the roof or adding a separate roof over to create the cricket. Give it a low slope, could be made of metal.

thanks for the response. I understand that I can either add to the existing roof or create a second roof. In this model, I have it as a second roof. How would the sketch look if I wanted to attach it to the main roof?

thanks!
