Contour lines on imported dwg survey are hidden by 3D topography while it is being constructed making it very difficult to continue the process! Is there a way to keep contour lines visible during this process?

It is far easier to create your topo automatically by importing 3D data, if the contour lines in the CAD drawing are set to the correct elevations. HELP > Creating a Toposurface from Imported 3D Data

If the CAD file lines are not at the correct Z elevation, it is easier to change them in CAD then do as WWHub suggests. Also in any view you can change the settings to wireframe so solids are not in your way.
