It would be nice if revit had some type of grid in 3D view similar to Google Sketchup. Or is there? See image attached. It would help with vizualizing/creating simple 3d models, like famillies and stuff. Sometimes it seems like their just floating in space with no reference point. Just a thought.

You can create some Ref. lines (not ref. planes) to guide you in 3D view... Revit is an Arch./Struc/MEP software...
