HI ALL,

I HAVE A 3D MODEL MADE IN ACAD 2010, I WANTED TO MAKE IT AS A FAMILY, SO I STARTED A NEW WALL BASED CASEMENT, I HAVE TO ISSUES,

- WHEN I INSERTED THE IMPORTED 3D MODEL, I PLACED IT THE WALL, BUT WHEN I PLACE IT IN THE REVIT FILE, IT MOVE OUT SIDE THE WALL OR INSIDE IT(DIFFERENT WALL THICKNESS) WHAT DID I DO WRONG ?

- I WANTED TO DO A LABEL FOR THE FAMILY, HOW CAN I DO THAT ?

THANK YOU,

Use the "Align" tool to attach the family to the FACE of the wall and lock like you can see in the image....

Sometimes when modeling wall based families your wall in your project is a different thickness than the one you are using in the family.  You need to lock what ever it is you're modeling to the face of the wall in your family.  Try to always flex the family when possible, i.e: change the wall thickness, use different parameters to make sure it is working properly.

Hi, I recently had same problem. What I did is I made the model as a generic model family and then I loaded it into a wall based family.

Or in other words I use nested families. That way the model doesent stretch when the with of the wall in your project varies.
