Using Revit 2011-I'm trying to edit the elevation tag so I can have it like I did in 2010. That is, change the text font and turn off the view name. Below are the instructions given from the user's guide. - Click Manage tabProject Settings panelSettings drop-downCallout Tags, Elevation Tags, or Section Tags.
- In the Type Properties dialog, edit type properties as necessary.
The first thing I notice is in 2011 there is no "project setting panel" or a "settings" drop down. There is a "settings" panel with an "additional settings" drop down. And when I click on elevation tags under additional settings the only type properties are a 1/2" circle or sqaure type and an elevation mark. I cannot find the family anywhere to edit it outside the project. Does anyone have any ideas how I go about setting this? Or do I just have to create a new family? Thanks

I am having the same difficulty, I just want the 1/4" sq. from previous versions. I would be happy to copy it from 2010 but cannot find it, or a1/4" size to choose from!

On the left hand side in the Project Browser, below where your Sheets are is a pop down for "Families", you can find and edit the Elevation Tag here.

I overlooked the location of the family. In the C drive (or which ever drive the software was installed to) in the imperial library folder under annotations is the elevation families. In order to edit the text type you have to edit and resave the "Elevation Mark Body_Circle file". In order to change the text for the Elevation mark pointer just click on it while in the family editor and click edit family and change its type properties to whichever font and size. Once all this is done load your elevation tag into your project and as bryanmmiller has pointed out you need to navigate to the project browser and make the changes necessary to get this to display as you wish. Its a bit confusing but first you edit the "elevation mark pointers" as you wish by choosing one, then clicking the type properties button on the modify tab. Then look for the new elevation tag family you just created select one of the types and edit its type properties to select one of the "elevation mark pointers." Then go to the manage tab--> additional settings--> elevation tags and select which type you'l like to modify (1/2" square or circle) then select from the drop down list one of the elevation tags you'd like to use. They've changed how to edit tags quite a bit, but it doesn't take too much time once figured out.
