Hi, our firm exports a gbXML file of a building model which is then imported into a separate program (Trane Trace) to calculate heating and cooling loads. I've recently realized that anytime a space has a clerestory wall exposure, the direction of the wall is reported as being 180 degrees off of the true orientation. (A south facing wall is exported as a north facing wall.) It doesn't matter if the space has other exterior exposures or not. As you can imagine this often makes our calculations quite inaccurate. As of right now the only solution seems to be to create a separate clerestory space or to manually change the direction of each affected wall within Trace, (which takes a lot of time and often times walls are missed). From what I have seen, each of our projects that have clerestory exposures has this problem. I use the Analyze - Heating and Cooling Loads model image to check that the Analytical Surfaces are correct before exporting and have noticed that Revit is naming these walls incorrectly (North as South etc.) This problem exists both in Revit MEP 2010 and 2011. Has anyone come across this issue as well? Any ideas? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
