Ok I am getting the jump on my boss on the IFC issue.  From what I am gathering my boss has been told that we dont need to upgrade Revit to 2011 because we can have the Architect export his files out to an IFC format and then we can use that for our model in Revit MEP 2010.

Is this true?  If so how much data is usable and how much will be lost in translations?

Just wondering,KHeinz

results with IFC vary greatly. check some of the similar threads below.  please let us know your results. personal i don't consider the current state of IFC a viable option. since your are exporting/importing IFC between the same product, just different versions you may achieve some useable results. maybe someone can provide you with current state info on IFC. i gave up a long, long, time ago and never look back. i would be interested in knowing what your results are if you have time to post them.

Thanks
