Both the project and the shared elevation base are at 70'-6". I want my shared elevation to stay at 70'-6", but I'd like to change my project shared elevation to 0'-0". I have tried to 'Relocated this Project' when my levels are set to project elevation, but this does not change the elevation value.

This may be an easy fix, but I just cannot figure it out. I'm on a deadline, so your prompt reply would be much appreciated.

So why do you want to do this?  Did you model your building at 70'-6" in the Z direction using the project base of 0'-0" which by the way cannot be moved.

Doing any model movement will cause numerous headaches so need the information on what it is you are trying to accomplish.

I'm thinking that I must have modeled the project at 70'-6" at the very beginning and this is why it won't show as 0'-0". There is no way to make it read 0'-0" without actually moving the levels? 'Relocate this Project' only works for the shared elevation? That is bad news...

Perhaps I will just have to mask the numbers in my few elevations for now.

If you want your level indicators to read 0'-0" for the first floor and relative from there then:

Relocate the project down -70'-6"

Select a level marker and either duplicate it for a new type but also change the reporting of the level type to "shared" not "project"

If you created a new level type then change all the existing ones to the new one.  I typically have a shared and project based level types in my template and can intermix them as needed.

If you had counted on the shared position for linking then this method won't work as you would have need to model corectly at 0'-0" from the start or else you would need to physically move your mode down which is not recommended at this stage of your project.

The lesson learned for everyone reading this post is that you need to clearly understand Revit's positioning systems before starting a Revit model and  make sure everything is correct before you run into last minute problems where there is no simple corrective action.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, lesson learned, although too late, unfortunately.

Wishlist Addition: Ability to move project easily if this simple mistake is made.

I realize my answer comes a little bit late, but if anyone else out there is googling for the answer to the question of "how to change the project elevation" at a late stage in the project, then heres the solution.

In the newer versions of Revit they've introduced the "Project Base Point" and the "Survey Point".Now to change the "project elevation" you need to change to elevation of the "Project Base Point".I had a scenario where the project got started at an project elevation of 27100 mm, and then later the "Shared Elevation" was set to 27000 mm. This was fine at the time, but suddenly we needed to change the elevations to relative elevations starting at 10000 mm, without changing the actual elevation of the terrain and model.

To accomplish this I set the elevation of the "Project Base Point" to 17000 mm, and that made it work!So now if I set the levels to show the Elevation Base as "Shared", they show a value of 27000, and if I set them to show the Elevation Base as "Project", they show a value of 10000 mm.

Remember to set the clip state of the "Project Base Point" to off before changing the elevation.

Just FYI for anyone struggling with the same problem.
