How do you show Post-Tension strand and tendons in a P.T. slab?

Are you wanting to show the engineered load paths of the PT strand, or do you want to do a shop level layout of each tendon with schedules cut lenghts including the drape and end extension? A long time ago I used to work for VSL and ran across an old shop drawing of mine yesterday cleaning out the garage. We used to do them by hand and had a program that ran on HP calculator to figure the lengths with drape. Anyway, if I'm an engineer and want to show what load paths I intend the PT supplier to follow in creation of the shops, then I might just go with detail lines in a view. If I want to show each PT tendon, then a family is probably the best choice. Not sure how I would create the family though as the tendons need to curve in plan and in section need to follow the span parabola or at least the high and low points need to be indicated. Ultimately an API might need to be programmed to pull off the tendon placement. How detailed are you trying to get?

I will probably end up using 2d line work. I was just hoping that someone had come up with a better way.
In AutoCAD I would use polylines so the entire length of the strand would be attached. With Revit, they end up being a bunch of single lines and it is difficult to make changes.

We were using detail lines in a plan view, it seemed to work just fine. And once you get used to manipulating the detail lines it's really no more difficult than an ACAD pline.

One of my current projects also involves PT slab and I have just been using detail lines in plan view. This solution is fine by us. In CAD I would draw a polyline and then use the Spline command to smooth out the curves. Is there a similar Spline command in Revit? Right now I am just using straight lines and 3 point archs trying to match curves as best as possible.

Revit has a spline for both detail and model lines. If you use the model line it will show up in all views that show the level that it was placed on including 3d views. This works pretty well but the model lines must be placed on a single plane so they do not have any depth information for the strand. They are essentially painted on the surface of the floor.
