Does anyone know how to hide the elevation view name in the round elevation tag? It was so easy in 2009. I went to the Manage Tab, then the Additional Setting Drop down, selected Elevation Tags, but there is no option to turn off the view name in the elevation mark.

Not sure what you are asking. For any view in Revit, there can be two names. The name in the browser, which has to be unique, and the name when placed on a sheet. You can control the callout under manage / settings / elevation tags ... "show view name" switch

I am inserting an interior elevation view tag in a floor plan, the view name "Elevation 1-a" is displayed. I want to hide this view name. When I go to the Manage tab > Additional Settings > Elevation Tags there is only the option to change the symbol no option to turn off the Elevation Tag View Name.

I just came across this and here's how to fix it. Open the elevation view tag family. (from project browser) Within that family is another nested annotation family which has the pointer and the View Name parameter you are discussing. So then open up the nested elevation pointer family for editing. (click it and Edit Family or use the Project Browser) You can just delete the reference view name parameter / label. Save and reload into the Marker Body family and then save and load into project. Then of course there are the controlling Elevation Tag settings on the Manage tab > Additional Settings. See attached images of the Elevation Mark Body and Elevation Mark Pointer

where did you find that elevation tag?!!! i have been wanting to edit the way it looks so we can use the style we have been using before revit. but i can not seem to find it. i open families and go to annotation and there is no elevation tag family there. is it somewhere else. i thought i could not be changed because it was a system family. but now i see you can change it. but i can't find it.

To start with you need REVIT 2011.

Daryl: Thank you!!! But what a pain! It was so easy in 2009 to turn this off. Why oh why do software engineers have to rethink everything. If they only tried to make a living by using their product they would have a completely different perspective. I do not like the way they have fragmented Revit, and yes I HATE the ribbon. In fact I never used 2010 because of it. Anyway, thank you again, I really appreciate it.

There is an easier way to modify the appearance of the elevation view tag, which is closer to how it used to be controlled in 2009. In the Project Browser, expand Families - Annotation Symbols - Elevation Mark Pointer_Circle and right click on the Type to choose Type Properties. You can choose the position of the view name, text, and reference label and whether or not they appear. I agree- I hate the ribbon, I "opted out" of 2010, but it was just delaying the inevitable. I was assured that I'd love the ribbon once I "got used to it." Hasn't happened yet (a year in).
