Hi, Im a student that has a few years of revit under his belt...i've been reading through the forums just trying to glean as much knowledge as I can about revit.  I read that revit models can be exported to 3ds max and rendered there.  My question is why would that be necassary?  Do 3ds max rendering look better? Render faster? or is simply to create an object with more ease than could be done in revit?  Or is it something completely different?

any clarification would be appreciated!

3ds Max is hands down better than Revit for rendering in every way.... well except is more complicated. Download the trial.... do some tutorials.... learn it.... love it!!

well, I have the full version of max, its just that I haven't had much time with school and all to explore its intricacies.  By better better rendering do you mean better quality? And how does render time compare to revit?  I know that question is subjective based on lights, daylight portals and the like, but in general how do render times compare?

it comes with great tutorials. join http://area.autodesk.com/

3ds max looks better, has more parameters to adjust. 3ds Max is a render program, Revit really isnt eventhough you can get decent quality. Click on my name here or search for 3ds Max threads. I have spoke many times about the benes of Max. i'd get into it more but i dont have alot of time.
