I used the paint tool to put paint on my walls, but now I want to put a wall covering up. I changed the structure but the material doesn't show because of the paint that's already on the wall. How do I remove the paint I put on with the paint tool?

Is there a method of removing all occurances of "paint" in a project? to reset all materials to "by category?" Someone learning revit in our office took it upon himself to use paint on almost every surface instead of applying render materials/colors to wall properties, exposed beams, and the like. It's driving me nuts now, trying to hunt down and undo these changes.
