Can anyone explain the best method for drawing stone veneer in 2D? I'm trying to draw wall sections / details... I've tried creating a detail component, but there is no way of controlling the vertical length of the veneer. Basically I would have to create a unique family for every single condition. Giant pain. Hours wasted. This should be standard stuff. See attached image.
We're on Revit Architecture 2010.

I don't know what you mean by controlling the length - don't you mean height? If you have random height units then ... I guess you have to have multiple detail families.... If you have single height units, you can use them in a repeating detail. You could mix a few random heights and use these in a repeating detail as well. I don't know why you think this should be "standard stuff". This isn't unit masonry.

Yes, by vertical length... i meant height, ha. And yes, the height of a stone veneer varies from section to section & especially from job to job. I was hoping to make a standard detail component that could be used for all future jobs. In autocad I would use x-clip to get the length I need... By standard stuff i meant: something as common as a stone veneer in section shouldn't be so difficult. The purpose of Revit is to speed things up, not slow things down, right?

If you are doing sections, then what you have is fine. Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill. If you are doing elevations, then use bit maps and use the Materials command in sttings of the manage tab and assign materials to walls as required.
