Hi,

I'm trying to create a wall made up of horizontal timber studs spaced at 100mm intervals against a vertical timber frame with glass infills - a photo of what i mean is attached.  I'd ideally like it to be parametric (specify number of studs, dimensions and spacing etc) but am new to family creation, and can't seem to find any guidance on how to accomplish this?  I also considered making it out of a curtain wall but that doesnt seem to work. On editing existing walls I cant seem to get the 'gap' to work... I may have been searching under the wrong terminology so apologies if this is an obvious one!

Any help would be most appreciated!

Kev

I would explore using the "curtain wall" tool to create what is shown in the picture.  You can define the horizontals as "mullions" and if you go to the type properties of the wall you can predefine the spacing.  The verticals can be included in the wall definition as well by playing with the mullion "offset" setting.

I think I would do as Tom suggests for the glass and "studs" (mullions), but I think I would do a seperate wall for the slats.  Just a normal, but thin, wall with regularly spaced void sweeps that cut completely through the wall.  This wall would be placed agaist the curtain wall.

also thx WWHub - i think this will be easier way of handling the outer slats layer.  I'm attempting a similar thing with the ceiling next... I've enclosed a rough sketchup image.  I havent truly looked into this yet, but any advice on how to get started with this one? (sry to add into same thread).

Glad to see it is working for you.  Just be careful with void sweeps as they do tend to bog down the model.  You will also receive error messages when the voids are above the actual height of the wall and are not cutting anything.
