Hi I am creating an apartment that has structural columns in it, I had created these columns from "place a component". But I now have a rectangular box. I want to add detailing to it and not sure how to go out doing that. I am only able to "edit in place". Another thing, I am trying to add molding to my walls, but not sure how to go about that? Could someone please help me with this. I would appreciate!

If you have multiple columns that are the same I would make a generic family column. If you want square columns with flutes or grooves use void extrusions to create them. Add bases by creating solid form extrusions. Either in the family or in place.
