Is it possible to attacha railing to non-stair or ramp objects?

You can add railings as free-standing components to levels, or attach them to hosts (such as floors, ramps, or stairs).

I've used a sloped flooor for a wedge-shaped ramop (the ramp function does not allow variable widths it seems). To fake a railing on the exge of the ramp, I built 2 ramps - one for each side of the wedge ramp, and hid the ramps in all views....total hack way of doing it. Another way?
