I have put a callout on a ceiling soffit within my bldg section and linked it to a detail. Then on a interior elevation I have the same condition / detail but it is mirrored. So I put a callout on it and link it to the same detail as the one on the bldg section. I go to edit the callout on the interior elevation and I insert o.h. (for oppposite hand). But then I noticed it put o.h. on the callout on the bldg section too. How can I eliminate the o.h. from the bldg section but not on the int. elev? I have tried to rename the callout but it renames it globally.

The only thing I have found to work is to just use text and type in o.h. next to the callout on the int. elev.

the reason why it changed is beacuse they all reference the same callout type you need to make a new callout type and rename it so it does not recognize them as being the same type.

this how i do it.  I open the callout head family in the annotation folder and do a save as and give it a new name. then i go back into the project and insert the new callout family. then under the manage tab select settings and select callouts.  you will need to make a new callout type, just duplicate the one there and give it a name(maybe the same as the family you made just to keep it clear). then chagne its type to the new family you just inserted. then go to your callout in you project and select it and uner type prop select the new callout you just made earlier.  this makes the callouts different (in name only) and you can turn the o.h. one and since it is different it will not change on the other callout.

Hope this helps if the is an easier faster way i would like to know, but this works.

Bimman, I am having the same problem.  What version of Revit are you using?  We are using RAC 2009 in our office and I cannot seem to find the "manage" tab.  We had this same problem with Sheetnotes, but did similar steps to rename them, then just dragged them into our Revit file.  But, with the Sheetnotes there is the availability of the dropdown menu to choose which Sheetnote family you want to put in.  This is not the case with the Callouts.  Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!JHuman

Thats what we figured...

I talked with a couple other firms here in town and they all said the same thing, they are all using RAC 2010 and were able to do it.  Hmmm, I will look into a work around for RAC 2009, thanks for your help!

the manage tab has all of these under it:

design options, manage projects, project settings, project location, macros

i think they just combined some similar type operations and put them in this location.  they should stiil be there in 2009. but the locations of them i am not sure of.
