Hello all, I have some typical residential wall types set up with typical wall layers such as studs, gyp. bd, sheathing, siding. My problem is I cant figure out how to turn the extra layers of the wall off in floor plan view. I only want to see the lines of the studs. Is there a way to do this? The floor plans just look too busy with all the extra linework, and on a floor plan those extra lines really dont need to be there. Any help would be greatly appretiated.

I don't know if this what you really wand but change the mode view to "Coarse"...

The problem that I have with switching to "coarse view" is then it shows the outer layer of siding and inner line of gyp. board. I would like to just see lines of studs (which is what everything is being dimensioned to.

Maybe an even better question is: how do you guys (the ones doing residential work) handle the walls?

to get the desired effect you want you will have to place the stud and drywall as seperate walls. thus an interior wall would consist of three walls. 1 for the stud and 1 for the drywall on each side of the stud. this method is perfered by some contractors that are using Revit. Most say that it is to labor intensive. at the moment i am not aware of any other methods, but you are not the first to want this. you might try checking over at AUGI also. but hopefully soon we will have visiblity control over the idividual components in walls.

Thank you Coreed, that is exactly what I needed to know. Currently the only 2 ways that I have figured out to make this work is the exterior walls consist of one (3) separate walls, 1 for sheathing/siding, 1 for studs, and one for gyp. bd. Then I just simpy do "hide element" for the 2 wall types that I dont want to see. The other way that I am playing with is Like the above mentioned methos with the exception that the studs have the gyp. bd. attached and I just switch the views detail level to coarse. It still isnt exactly right either. Oh well...maybe in a future Revet version...cheers:-)
