Hi All,

Ive been a user of Revit Structure 2009/10 for 14months.

A new job has come in usual steel framed building with pad foundations but the bit that is different is the ground beams.

These are 250wide x 575 deep with vertical slots cut into each end of the beam which allows the beams to slot into a “T” section piece of steel welded to the front of the steel column on either end of the beam and the beam has a 25mm chamfer to their outward facing top edge.

Ive been pondering the best way to attack this, my current idea because of the slots in each end of the beam is just to use a base slab and then just apply a 25mm chamfer.

Couple of questions:

Am I approaching this the best way by using slabs to create these beams ?? and also whats the best way to chamfer the slab edge.

Oh by the way we are on 2009.

Many Thanks in Advance

John

You could start with an existing beam family, and modify it so it has the slots in the ends.
