What is the best way to add topo on top of a below grade building in Revit? I need to see some dirt on top of my highest slab in section, but Building Pad takes all dirt away to surface. I also tried to split the topo on top of my footprint and put a new toposurface but in section earth hatch will go thru building levels. I appreciate your help in advance.

mbsteve thanks for your response anyway but i guess you did not pay attention to my attached scheme, I need to do it on 3D model. I'm not looking for a 2d drafting solution.

Simple, don't cut a pad for this. Your 3D modeled site is only the top surface. I sectional views, you can limit your topograpy dept or simply use an earth fill around this.

I have run into this myself a couple of times. rather annoying. I have asked Autodesk to allow the void tool to cut earth without a response this was 2 years ago. You could create a floor using earth and other elements under it if you set the earth portion to variable then you can manipulate the surface a little bit. good luck

Yes but as soon as I manipulate the top of the floor (earth) based on my finish elevations it starts modifying the bottom of it as well. I also tried Void but it didn't cut thru the topo either. I just noticed someone asked the same type of question on this forum back in 2005 and got no answer rather than filled region, sounds like at this time there's no way of doing it. Thanks anyway

Two thoughts... - As I suggested, don't use a pad - just leave the model site alone. The site in 3D is only a surface, it has no depth. The poche dept is a setting which you can change for your sections and elevations - that is the only place that shows.
- I have not ried this but have you tried a second surface (site) to fill your hole that you cut for your structure? After all, it would be fill. Just do a second topo surface with the correct grades in that limited area.

If you let the upper layer of earth be variable it will keep the bottom flat and change the thickness on the top.
