Hi,

I don't understand why I cannot rotate the true north direction without revit rotating my entire project. I built everything with project north and now I want to specify where true north is to get realistic shadows but it rotates my entire project along with the rotation. I want the building to stay in place and the north orientation to change, is that not possible? Should I ignore the placement of the elevation arrows? In my project it says that my angle from project north to true north is 159 degrees west which is correct but then the placement of the elevation arrows in relation to the building is incorrect. Anyone know a better way to go about this?

Rotating true north does not rotate your project.  It rotates the coordinate system and will only effect views that have been set to display "true north" orientation.  Your Project North views should not change...

Thank you for your reply. I feel that I almost understand now. The one thing I am still looking for clarity on is solar studies. I am doing a one day solar study and the angle from project north to true north is what I set by rotating true north in a plan view to the correct location. It says 159 degrees west of project north. I don't understand if the shadows are accurate because the building rotates when set to true north in plan view. So what I am asking is if the solar study keeps the building in the project north orientation and simply moves the sun to the true north orientation?
