Hi, I work in an Architecture firm and we are in the process of switching over to revit, me and a few others are trying to familiarize ourselves with the program before the rest get on it. As we now work on autoCAD, when we produce construction documents we have structural set-out plans which set-out all precast walls, structural columns etc., we do this by freezing off all other cladding layers from our base plans. In Revit is there a way to do this with the wall families??? the closest way i can think of it is, in a wall family you have your core layer - themal/substrate layer - finish 1 and finish 2, is there a way i can set the visability so that the only layer of the wall that shows up in a drawing is the core layer??? cheers dave

Not to my knowledge. I've talked with people from other firms more invested in revit that my firm, (we're 50/50 cad/revit) and they build walls in layers... for example, the core, the plywood, the GWB, the tile half-walls are all separate walls built face to face and locked. This seems like a logistical nightmare to me, and a wall join circus... but they employ a wall-type manager to keep things standardized, and I suppose they reap the benefits you're looking for, because of it.
