So I'm finding that either I am missing some key site building skills (entirely possible), or RevitArch is pretty crappy at doing site work.  We only got an actual drawing with existing site contours and property lines which I had to scan in, import to Revit as a JPEG, scale, and then build topography by adding points.  I managed to get a reasonable existing site with this method.  I duplicated the site and set phasing for the two sites (one as existing one as new construction) so I can show cut and fills, but I am finding it extrodinarily difficult and frustrating trying to accurately model all the cuts for the building site, swales, walkways, ditches, etc...  Is revit good for building drawings, but impractical for site drawings?  Am i missing some tool or something to get the topographic points to behave correctly?  can you model a site with swales and everything with revit?  Anyone else have any thoughts about the site tools in Revit?  I'm a big fan of Revit and the major Revit proponent in our office but I just told a co-worker I thought we should probably use ACAD for this site stuff.  Thanks for reading my rant.

I too, am unsatisfied with Revits site tools. Quite a bit of it stems from my previous lack of insight as to what can be done with Revit. I find that using the point tool carefully will allow a great deal of configuration including swales, If you cut the area to be swaled out and then swale it, and put it back it will work satisfactorily. The most difficult for me was the street work which I finally realised how to do with sweep blends. See attached tutorial, hope this helps a little. I still want a carving tool for site work that can follow any line that one can create.

thanks for the tutorial.  i think i need some more practice with the site stuff, it just isn't as intuitive as the building stuff.
