Dear RevitCity' member

I am architect woring in saudi arabia i am brand new in BIM solution

there is a dialectic in my office about using ACA (AutoCad Architecture)

or Revit

i want to here from you what is advantage / disadvantage between

the two applications

I think you should visit the AutoDESK website.  There are some good whitepapers that deal with the advantages of Revit.  Comparing Revit to AutoCAD is like comparing a Racehorse to a donkey.  They are really not comparable.  Although Revit has CAD functions and is actually better at CAD for buildings than AutoCAD, Revit is not CAD.  And although AutoCAD Architecture tries to be BIM, it is not.

Think about this too....since AutoDESK is pushing Revit, I believe AutoCAD Architecture is on its way out.

There are no advantages to using Autocad Architecture over Revit. PERIOD !!

Go with Revit !!!!!!!!!

This subject has been discussed at length on this and other forums.

Bottom line do your research and choose wisely.

Personally you would never get me to go back to a CAD based solution.

 

Revit = Database that can do architectural graphics (80% data, 20% graphics) = Future

ACA = Graphic engine that can handle a little bit of data. (80% graphics, 20% data) = Past
