Hello,

 Please visit this site: http://www.autodesk.co.uk/products/autodesk-revit-family/overview

This seems to be a shared option between MEP and structure but is there any way to do this in Revit Architecture?

We do not have the same tool in architecture.  If the two walls are touching, join geometry will cut the door / window opening in both walls.  But not if they are not touching.

Thanks, I guess I was lucky in this particular case nearly all of my walls were touching. For one however, it was about 4" away from the exterior wall with the openings and the join geometry worked flawlessly, any distance beyond that and it does not seem to work.

Yes you can join walls even if they're not touching in Architecture and the inserts will cut on both walls. CryingI think you have a max of 6" gap between wall to join). see attached from help file.
