Hi, What is the quickest way to extract the area for painting for every structural steel column and beam? I try to create a formula for this but even in the column/beam families I have access to the a,b,thickness values I cannot find a way to use them into the schedule. any help? Thank you, Florin

Unfortunately the surface area of beam is not something that's easily calculated. It would need to be done manually as unfortunately, as you mentioned you don't have access to the beam length to include in the formula. I suppose you could create a formula to work out the surface area per millimeter of beam... and set it up as a shared parameter. Then you could create schedule in the project adding this shared parameter and multipling it by the beam length?? This should give you what you desire but requires a fair bit of overhead. Of course once you have all you beams modified it should be quite simple. HTH.
