I am really struggling, every time i import an item into one of my projects, despite having colour in the 3D Image as soon as i render a 3D view some items come up grey (probably the default setting) i have tried various things with limited success, mainly changing the item material away from default to default wall this achieved success for the item but also changed the colour of the wall structure to the same, any ideas where i am going wrong

Thanks for reading

Ian

Here is a very important rule to remember:  THE PROJECT RULES!

What that means is if a material is set in the project, it doesn't matter what poperties the material is set to in the family editor.   Materials need unique names created and set initially in the family.  Once that family is loaded, you have to change the settings in the project OR remove the family and purge the material definition from the project.

Remember, use unique names if you want unique materials.  "Aluminum" may be in many different families but "Aluminum - white" might be what you need.
