What kind of families do you want to create in Revit with those DWG files? You must understand one thing, when you insert DWG or SKP (sketchup) files into a Revit family they are "Dumb" objects, they aren't parametric, you can only apply materials on it IF you follow some rules... Check the HELP menu for that....

Also, here you have a nice tutorial: http://www.revitcity.com/tutorials/how_to_grow_your_family/

Thanks for the link Typhoon much appriecated,

Looking at the format in the link it seems to me if you have lots of cad dwg's  to import,

this is a lot of work for very little gain, would i be right i assuming that?.

"Looking at the format in the link it seems to me if you have lots of cad dwg's  to import, this is a lot of work for very little gain, would i be right i assuming that?." - Maybe Yes, maybe Not, all depend what are you trying to do, that's why i ask you "What kind of families do you want to create in Revit with those DWG files?" - there are hundreds of threads about this same issue here in the forum, search and you will find...
