By editable I assume you mean parametric. Families that are parmetric require reference planes/lines, contraints/alignments and parameters to control them. It is a pretty in-depth topic. It is best to go through some tutorials on the subject, read some books or take a class. Some re-sellers now offer Revit classes just on families, check with yours. The Autodesk courseware on Revit advanced edition covers family creation and can be purchased from Autodesk. Autodesk University in November offers a "families from the beginning" class, but it is already full. If I run across any more ideas I will post them. HTH Tom

I finally found the link to the old Revit Distance Learning seminars. They used to hold these live, but now there are only the old 6.0 ones recorded. Most of what they talk about is still valid in 8.1. There is one on families you might find value in. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=5055212&linkID=3770350 The other option is: http://www.dgcad.com/Revit8.htm They have some free lessons and other are $9.99, but none on families yet.
