Hi All, I am trying to create a shading device that mimics the geometry of tree branch growth. I thought I could easily model this with a divided surface and then manage the geometry with some simple parameters. I began with the rhomboid pattern and then I assumed that with instance parameters and selected visibility I could manually line up the geometry into the pattern I want. I created a curtain panel pattern based family as seen in the attached image. I can fully flex my instance parameters in the family no problem, but when I load the panel into the divided surface I lose functionality. I change the parameters but the geometry doesn't flex. Does anyone have any advice or fixes for this? It seems as if the divided surface is locking the members to the middle points of the rhomboid sides. What can I do to fix this?

In the "Conceptual Masses" check this values like in the image attached, also check this: http://designreform.net/2009/04/revit-2010-curtain-panel-pattern-based-hexagons/

Thanks Typhoon, but that didn't solve my problem. The problem isn't the panel orientation its is that the instance parameters in my curtain panels don't adjust. I change the parameters in the instance properties but the model doesn't change. Any other ideas?

If anyone is interested, I seemed to have solved my problem. My branch structures were driven by splines through reference points. The problem occured because the host of the panel ( the divided surface) was controlling the dimensions/location of my reference points. Luckily in the reference point properties there is a toggle to turn this off. Hope this helps someone in the future! Thanks all, -David
