when a baluster family is imported in a project it doesnt take the same material as the family, a default material is applied and as a result u dont get the desired color and texture. For example in a baluster family a balck color steel material has been assigned and after importing the same family in a project as become a grey and default color railing.
Also customisation of the railings (saftey railings) is very complicated.

The material should come across unless of course the material was already loaded and has since been changed in the family (in this case the material wouldn't be overwritten)
Its always a good idea to add a material parameter to all balusters as well.

Thank you. I have worked out the problem. The material has to assigned in both faimily and the project as well.
