I have created an escalator family that contacts my ground floor to my third floor.  However, when I place it in the model I can see the entire length of the escalator in all plan views.  How to I adjust the view range... within the family or within the model?

It is probably a non-cuttable family which means if any part of that is cut by a view, the entire family will show.  You can read about cuttable families in your HELP.

Is there any way to switch this off or do I need to create a completely new family?

I cannot find it in HELP.

search cuttable in your help - that will tell you what family it needs to be to be cuttable.

Got it!  Thanks.  Speciality Equipment cannot be cut... so just switched it to Generic Model and it cuts beautifully.
