1. Link a CAD file into a drafting view

2. Go to Annotate Tab

3. Select the "Trace CAD Lines" Tool.

4. Select cad link in drafting view and Presto all the cad lines are duplicated in detail lines.

5. Modify line types to suit.

Bugger will surely be the line too small. Besides that, how cool would that be? If we can detail one line at a time, why not 40, 100? Want to get ACAD users to swich. Here's the tool.

jarosa... read my process on how to clean up CAD files here:  http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=17194  That post may look a little complicated but it really isn't and the reslutant detail is now fit to put into your project.

WWHUB,

I saw your post and printed it out already. Plan to use it. However, the item I was trying to detail was a vinyl window section. How do you deal with the line too short error message? You know all the round corners (dare I say filleted?).

Thanks

Too many manufacturer's CAD details are just not drawn right for revit.  If it is too short, I delete it.  You would never really see it anyway.  I delete tiny radius and all small lines.  I try to simplify the manuf. details.  We do not need production details.
