I have a question , i'm new at revit ( i'm using revit structure) . I need to make structures for industrial use ( level constrution for putting machines on) . But to do that i need make bolded connections with beam to colums and to griders . I can't find any top - or end plates in revit :-(

Can anybody tell me how i can do that so that the manufacture for the construction can start to make my platforms!Or is revit structure just made for designing analytic models and no detailted designs?

WKR

jeanke,

When I saw your post in the Tips and Tricks section of the forum I thought "Nice, someone has a tip for beam-2-beam connections!" But when I opened your post it was a question...Please try next time to post in the REVIT STRUCTURE - Technical Support - your post might not get missed!  There's also a newbie section too.

To answer your question...I haven't seen much in the way for model entities for bolts or connection plates.  There is an extension which creates beam to column connections, but it is limited.  You can search autodesk's website for the latest extensions to try it out for yourself and it may have come with your version of the software - (I can't remember exactly how I got them - brain cramp) But if you have already installed them they would be located under the add-ins tab on the ribbon.

Other than that, you could try creating mass elements.  What is the purpose for showing modeled connection material versus drawing 2D details of the different connection types?

I know this is a bit of an old post, but if you want to try getting beam to beam structural connections, they are supported by the SDS/2 Connect add-in for Revit Structure. They are complete with design calculations as well.

These videos on our YouTube channel can show you how it works: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCBB2A3F56AECECEB&feature=plcp

OR see for yourself by getting a free trial: http://sds2connect.com/trial
