The default ceiling height seems to be 8'. Can this default be changed? I know how to change the instance properties, but not the type properties.

Your HELP is a great resource for questions like this. Do a search of your HELP using "ceiling" and you will find the answers to these questions and much more.

I spent quite a bit of time searching HELP, but haven't found an answer to this.

In the HELP section: Sketching a Ceiling it says: 4. Click Ceiling Properties. 5. In the Instance Properties dialog, designate the type of ceiling and its properties, and click OK. One of those properties is the height offset from level... when you set that, that will now be your default ceiling height...until you set it again.

Thanks for your help. I found how to change the height in the Instance Properties, but I thought there must be a way to change the default.
