If I have imported or linked an autocad file into Revit (MEP) it brings it in as "one entity". How can I make connection points to my imported autocad file that is now one entity?

I want to add a "pipe connector" to the "face" of a place on my imported autocad file. Say for example to the face of a flange or valve. If the entire imported file is one entity how can this be done? Please advise.

 Thank you!

I don't do MEP but....  think about an invisible family that you can locate and have the connectors....
