I want to be able to select architectural elements on my plan, Im showing a floor patterns of wood planks, so everytime I try to move something or select something it snaps to each and every floor board on the plan. without having to hide the hatch, how do i get it to act inert and not set off the snaps.?

Use the "TAB" key to select what you want... TAB, TAB, TAB...

Whoa... Have you got individual wood planks?  I hope not.  This should just be a material that uses a hatch pattern in plan.

Of course its a hatch pattern. But when your trying to srping off some geometry across the room, or move something 1 foot, each baord line in the hatch keys in with some arbitrary dimension because its just lines on the plan, and the other real geometries get cluttered in the snaps, does this make any sense? I want the hatch to show, but not be a part of the snapping etc...
