My firm is just getting seriously in to Revit. We generally creat a sheet with wall types that are short lengths of each typical wall in plan view. I can think of a few ways to do this, but I want to know the proper way. should i just model short lengths of walls somewhere out in the model space, crop a floor plan to them and put it on a sheet? Do i make an individual partial plan view of a short section of the actual wall in the model? How do firms that are currently delivering projects in Revit handle this? Thanks.

You need to create a legend and then use legend components to do this. This is built in functionality to do exactly what you describe. Search Legend components in the help for good further clarification.
