Hi All, I am relatively new to Revit and would like to learn to create my own structural columns. Can someone point me in the right direction as far as setting constraints using reference lines and linear dimensions to control model geometry? I have no formal training in Revit, but have used several cad packages over the years. Cheers, Raoul

As a general rule a good methodology is: - Plan what you want,
- Add required reference planes,
- Add required parameters to reference planes,
- Flex to ensure it behaves as expect - repair if necessary,
- Then add geometry and constrain to reference planes,
- Add any further material or visibility parameters to the geometry,
- Flex,
- Create New Type,
- Save Family
Start with the inbuilt family creation tutorials, but columns are some of the easier families to create. Just don't constrain the levels...
