I’m rendering a 3d plan view (orientated to view). I’ve created a mass at each floor. When I turn the shadows on, shadows from the exterior walls are cast onto these masses. However, when I render they are not. Is there a way to render these shadows?

 Thank you

if you have shadows in shaded, you should see them in rendered view. are you using "use shaded view settings" for rendering?

also, in rendering settings, bring the sun intensity a little down and make shadows a little darker...

does this help?

Could you please expand on where to find "use shaded view settings". Also not quite related but there's a lot of discussion in the forums about using "mental ray" do you know how to this verify I'm using this?

Thanks

I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. This did help.

Thank you

Give the mass a material other than the default and ensure masses are turned on in the view and you haven't just got the "show mass" global option to show them.

Metal Ray is built into Revit 2009 onwards.
