Hello,

I'm working on a site plan and on various buildungs , separate files, linked into that siteplan. I want to work on both files, having both files open, switching between them, but it seems not possible, Revit 2009 always tells me it has to unlink the file first. I thought using Worksets is the way to do it but that did'nt help me. i also don't understand it completely i must admit.

any help?

thanks

You cannot have a linked file open while you still have the project it is linked into open in the same instance of Revit (I don't know why). The workaround is to simply start Revit again and have two copies running on your machine (not sure if this uses two licenses) and open the linked file in the second instance of Revit.

thanks! only my machine is having trouble dealing with ONE instance of revit open, don't think it can handle two. need a new computer. But should work, thanks! a edit-in-place-button would be nicer, though!
