I have been asked to investigate whether it is possible to passwoprd lock a revit file so it can be viewed but not edited.

As far as I can tell this is not product feature - Has anybody else attempted this?

The best option I have been able to come up with is to deliberately 'break' a workshare.

Any suggestions...?, would consider 3rd party software if it works.

Cheers

Matt

have you tried exporting a dwf file?

if not try it and see if that fits your needs,

this will give you a non editable file you can view everyting in and measure on.

Yes, the DWF option has been discussed.

The problem is that the client has requested an .rvt and we don't entirely trust them...

It would be ideal if there was a way to make a hamstrung revit file that could only be viewed.

I don't think it can be done butI am open to suggestions...

if they want an .rvt file, at the moment you are out of luck i think. i'm sure that some third party will be coming soon. if you come up with anyting, let us know how effective it is.
