Thanks

Rams, You need to download and read this PDF.  I tw really help you: http://revit.downloads.autodesk.com/download/RAC2009/Families_Guide/ENU/Family_Guide/PDF/ArchitectureFamiliesImpENU.pdf

This isan 810 page guide on building families from AutoDESK and it explains the family origin as well as many other things.

Thanks Hub,

I was seriously lookin for such tutorial.

I am working  on a project where we have to generate 600 families. I was the first person who forced my organisation to start using Revit so i have to quickly find out the ways for any problem.

One Query which is not getting solved - I am creating face based sink with void and bench.

Now if i inerst the sink into bench family its creating aperture but if i separately insert them into my project and trying the same thing its not not happening. Unfortunately this is the main priority for my client...

If you get anything then please forward it to me..

Thanks a lot

Rams

Rams,  As far as I have found, a face based familiy with void will only cut system families.  You need to build the void in the counter family.  DGCad just posted a demo on how to put a void in a family that can be controlled so it can be turned off.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3MnmYyeZmY

Thanks Hub

We have 18 types of sink and then we will have to generate 18 types of void and linking...

I have proposed client to create inplace family for bench and then insert the sink into bench, now its creating aperture..

I will let you know if there is any progress...

Thanks
