In Revit 2010, we've imported a sketchup model into a file to create an in-place mass family. We've had pretty good results placing materials on the mass family and rendering it with exterior sunlight, but we are having trouble creating a linear light that will orient to the angled planes of the mass family to create interior night time renderings. I've tried creating a light from both the linear light fixture family template and linear wall based light fixture family template. However when we import the light component, it will not orient to the surface. Another attempt to get the light to orient properly by using the model by face option (I choose a wall) also failed to provide a plane for the wall base linear light to reference. I've attached a PDF in an attempt to clarify the issue for anyone who may be able to help.
