Problem:We have to draw the same set of plans at 3 different scales/ paper sizes.

  • 3/32"='1 on 8.5x11 paper
  • 1/8"=1' on 11x17 paper
  • 1/4"=1' on 24x36 paper

Solution: Rather than duplicate, re-dimension and re-label each view at 3 scales, we'll draw each view once at 1/8"=1'.  Then "freeze drawing" all views, scale a set to 3/32"=1', scale another set to 1/4"=1'.  Still need to make 3 sheet sizes, and the drawings all say "CryingFrozen)" on each sheet, but you avoid re-drawing dimensions, texts, etc. for each new scale.

Thoughts?  Let me know if there's a simpler or quicker way to accomplish this!

why not make one view, dimension & label it, then 'duplicate view with detailing"?

I'd rather be riding at whistler. or highland. thats good too.

Our problem is immediatly after that - when you change the scale (of the duplicate) from 1/8"=1' to 3/32"=1', the dimensions and text don't scale with the rest of the plan

right, because text in revit is a fixed size. if you want that text to fit in the same space you need to use a different text type.

This is one of Revit's strengths.... Text is always formatted the same no matter what scale of drawing.  Easy fix, do as pepsiqueen says then on the sheet where the text is larger than what you want, select all text and assign it to a new style.  You can do the same with the dimensions.

Instead of making the text smaller, you might consider a narrower text...

You also might consider designing the sheet from the smallest scale - then you know the larger scales will all fit.
