I  am still using RA2009, but am fairly confident this rendering trick should work for 2010 as well.

In Rendering  - Quality - Settings choose the one you want  for example 'Best', then click on 'Custom (view specific)', then on 'Edit'. A new screen will come up. No need to make any changes, just click OK.

Now choose your output settings - screen, printer etc and run it.

The render will run in a couple of minutes, rather than hours. I have only tried this for external renderings so far.

I don't know how it works, or why, but it is amazing!

I just had to try this out because it seemed too good to be true.  Unfortunately, it is too good to be true.

If you're looking to do a "Best" quality rendering, the only way the "Custom (View Specific)" would render with the same quality is if you copy the settings of "Best" over to "Custom (View Specific)".  Once you do this and try the trick sequence of events, the rendering still takes just as long as it would normally take on "Best".  My guess is that if you check all of the render settings in your "Custom (View Specific)" selection, they will look eerily similar to "Medium" or "Low"... which certainly only take a few minutes, but look like garbage - comparitively speaking.

Either that, or the fact that I'm on 2010 actually DOES make a difference.
